Today I will talk about "La Caleta". La Caleta is an ONG in La Legua, this organization works with many different groups of people, for example they works with mothers, child, teenagers and others. This organization works based on the rights approach, in special about children rights. They works in vulnerable places in general and work in the territory of the people.
I have been working with them 6 weeks ago with a group called "Mambo del Caserío" they are 15 or 18 children of different ages between 8 and 12 years. We work with them the children rights, for example recreation, ecology, health, security and others in special the security because in La Legua the children can't go out to play in the street by shootings there in the street.
The idea is that the children knows their rights and they can internalize. We teach the children that they have many skills that can to use and teach them that they are able to change their fate because they live surrounded by drugs and bullets. The most important thing is that the children know whats their rights and they can demand. So they don't think that the violence and drugs are normal things.
The child are very loving and very funny but sometime you need to have patience because they are very restless. The true is I have much love them.
